PAST

"Your father plans on taking a trip to London in a few weeks, Aria. He wanted to see if you would want to come or not," my mom asks, making me look up at her.

She has her eyebrow raised at me and takes a sip of her green tea from the mug she is holding.

"Is Layna coming?" I look at Layna who is sitting across from my mom.

"Yea. I don't have anything else to do," Layna says with a small smile.

"I'll see. I have to ask Dante," I mumble before looking down at my hands.

Or else he'll fucking push me to the ground again like last time I asked him.

Ever since he first hit me, which was about two years ago, he has kept doing it, punching me and hitting me harder, throwing me to the floor, and banging my head against his car window when I piss him off before dates.

I mean it's kind of my fault, isn't it?

I am talking back to him and not really making things easier.

But for some reason, I can't keep my mouth shut.

"What did I tell you about him, Aria?" my mom asks, which makes me look back up at her and see her with a frown on her face. "I don't want you seeing him. I don't like him."

"It's not really up to you though." I shrug. It's up to Dante mainly. "I love him. He is good for me."

Fucking lie.

Lie.

Lie.

Lie.

"I have to stand by your mom on this one. For some reason, I just don't trust him," Layna says and I see her and my mom make eye contact which makes me furrow my eyebrows.

"Maybe you should focus on your own relationship Layna before you start putting your useless input on mine." I get up from my chair and leave the kitchen, letting them talk shit about my relationship without me having to listen to it.

I want to end things with Dante. But he will kill the people I love, with me watching and then kill me right after by beating me to death.

So I just stay with him and take it.

As I walk upstairs, I see Dante watching me walk upstairs with his elbows resting on the railing.

I am about to walk past him but he stands straighter and grabs my forearm making me stop. I feel my heart starting to beat rapidly and my stomach turn upside down making me want to throw up.

"What were you guys talking about?" Dante pulls me closer to him so that I am standing in front of him, placing his hand on my hip, sending a chill down my spine.

"Nothing important. Just a trip to London that my mom asked me about." I shrug.

"Are you sure?" Dante raises an eyebrow at me and I nod my head. "I could have sworn I heard my name."

"Yea I was just telling them that I had to make sure I talk to you first."

"And?" Dante asks, tightening his grip on my arm and waist making me feel a sting where his fingers are.
